Democracy
TASC has an established track record in supporting stronger democratic institutions and accountability mechanisms.
We organised a ground-breaking Democracy Commission in 2003 and the first ever Democratic Audit of Ireland, which published in 2007. TASC also published an open government ‘toolkit’ – a set of guides for citizens on how government works and how to provide input as a citizen into budgeting and policy decisions, and more recently, an e-book on how to set up a deliberative democracy assembly.
TASC organised a conference on participatory democracy in early 2019 that brought together activists from around Europe. This year, we will be participating in a Europe for Citizens project exploring how young people can become more engaged with European citizenship.
