The People's Transition: Crumlin
05 December 2024
The People’s Transition: Crumlin is a community-driven initiative designed to ensure Crumlin residents benefit from the transition to a zero-carbon society while addressing local priorities. Through participative decision-making, the project empowers the community to shape climate solutions that enhance their quality of life and foster stronger social bonds. Initiated in October 2023, the project included mapping the area’s resources and needs, engaging diverse groups through workshops and surveys, and co-creating actionable solutions to tackle climate and development challenges.
Key proposals include establishing a Community Forum to enable collective decision-making, creating a community-owned space for collaboration and social engagement, and enhancing biodiversity through the regeneration of green spaces. These solutions align with Crumlin’s rich legacy of active citizenship and emerging environmental initiatives, ensuring climate action delivers tangible benefits. The initiative highlights how addressing development needs can support a just and inclusive transition to a sustainable future.
This project worked in partnership with Dublin South City Partnership and Bloomin Crumlin.
