Football for Climate Justice Community and Fan Survey Report
24 October 2023
How do football fans across Europe feel about climate change and their club’s role in fighting it?
Authored by TASC, this report presents the findings of a survey of 1,432 football fans and their neighbours across seven European football clubs as part of the Football for Climate Justice project. It endeavours to understand the local environmental and climate justice challenges that fans are experiencing across several themes, including energy, transport, and access to green space and clean air. The findings from this survey will be used to explore how football clubs can engage in and support community-led climate action that is inclusive, equitable, and benefits from widespread social approval.
The Football for Climate Justice project is in international collaboration including Bohemian FC, Club Brugge KV, FC St. Pauli, FC Twente, Ferencvárosi TC, FUNDACIÓN LaLiga, Real Betis Balompié, SV Werder Bremen, the Think-tank for Action on Social Change (TASC), and the European Football for Development Network (EFDN).
