TASC was delighted to have partnered with the Chartered Institute of Building for the launch of a report on Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) on February 1.

The panel featured:

• Daniel McCrum from UCD

• Joseph Kilroy from the Chartered Institute of Building

• Manus O'Donnell from the Department of Trade, Enterprise, and Employment.

The report has been featured in The Irish Times. Highlighted in the article is the report’s emphasis on the stability of demand as a key challenge for MMC adoption, with a recommendation that the State, through direct building of social homes, plays a role in shoring up demand.

The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for meeting and exceeding agreed fundraising targets and objectives – including working with external and internal stakeholders to deliver a clear pipeline of prospects to maximise major donor, philanthropic, and trust and foundational fundraising income. The fundraiser will also help out with TASC’s project application process as part of their role.

Green Sacrifice Zones: The Justice Implications of the Green Transition

The blog written by Alanna Garcia O’Donnell discusses the concept of Green Sacrifice Zones, areas where underprivileged communities face environmental burdens in the name of green policies.

Despite efforts in the Global North for a just transition, the post highlights the exploitation of resources from the Global South, particularly Africa, for initiatives like phasing out fossil fuels.

The blog mentions Ireland's potential designation as a sacrifice zone due to extensive mining. The author calls for a just global perspective in green transition policies, emphasising equitable distribution of burdens and the need for socially and environmentally responsible approaches.

Youth Support for Democracy in Europe - Report Launch

On Tuesday 23 January 2024, our research partner FEPS launched the policy study ‘How young people facing disadvantage view democracy in Europe‘, which analyses the attitudes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds towards democracy and what can be done to create a closer and better connection to democracy. 

The project was carried out by FEPS with the support of the Fondation Jean-Jaurès, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Madrid, the Institute for Social Democracy (ISD) and the Fundación Felipe González.

This project is part of the FEPS series Builders of Progress, which analyses young Europeans’ main concerns and aspirations.
