Report Launch: The State We Are In, Inequality in Ireland 2024

TASC is pleased to announce the launch of The State We Are In, Inequality in Ireland 2024. This year's report will have a special focus on families and education. It will tackle issues relating to income inequality, poverty and deprivation, the impact of inequality on families and children, educational inequality and the impact of recent interventions to support living standards and the risks around the withdrawal of these supports.

The launch will take place in NUI Merrion Square on Thursday 27th June at 11am.

Confirmed speakers to date:

  • Oisín Gilmore (Senior Economist at TASC)

  • Barra Roantree (Assistant Professor in Economics at Trinity College Dublin)

  • Karen Kiernan (CEO of One Family)

On Wednesday, the 5th of June, TASC, in collaboration with Waterford Area Partnership, and with the support of AIB, launched the latest People’s Transition report focused on two residential neighbourhoods located approximately two kilometres southeast of Waterford City Centre.

The solutions and pathways forward proposed in this report are the development of green spaces for mental health by and for the community, a repair café and Library of Things, and a ‘whole of community’ approach to retrofitting. These specific solutions are designed to meet the need for climate action whilst also being realistic and beneficial for the residents of Larchville and Lisduggan.
