Assessing the Proposed Auto-enrollment Pension Scheme

Assessing the Proposed Auto-enrollment Pension Scheme Event

This event took place on the 28th March with a great turn out from all sectors. The aim was to provide a forum to discuss the government’s draft legislation on auto-enrolment to a new state-run pension scheme for workers who are not already members of an occupational or private pension scheme. At present, very large sections of our population will be without adequate incomes in retirement unless further provision is made for good supplementary pensions.

Financial Resilience Training for Charity Staff

TASC, in Partnership with AVIVA, are now offering Financial Resilience Training to charity staff across Ireland. Financial Resilience Training is a free online training that helps staff to support service users to improve their financial resilience and embed FRT into the core work of their organisation.

Financial resilience is the ability of individuals or households to resist, cope with and recover from negative events that impact their finances. Some of the most important areas of financial resilience include day-to-day money management, helping people to live within their means and keeping track of their spending, planning future needs and active saving, choosing and using appropriate financial products and making informed financial decisions.

What needs to be done to keep Irish beef farming alive and kicking by Molly Breen

What needs to be done to keep Irish beef farming alive and kicking

Unfortunately, these days, beef farmers are often victimised in the midst of the climate crisis debate. However, after consulting with a diverse range of Irish beef farmers, it is clear to me that the government is tackling the issue of climate change the wrong way. Read the blog here

Is an All-Party, Power-Sharing, Governmnet in Ireland Possible? by Peter Emerson

Is an All-Party, Power-Sharing, Governmnet in Ireland Possible?

The prospect raises at least two questions. Is majority rule the most democratic form of government?  And secondly, would an all-party power-sharing coalition, the sort of arrangement which ‘stable’ democracies advocate for conflict zones like Northern Ireland, be more suitable? Read the blog here
