Sean McCabe Pens Opinion on Government's Climate Action Plan and Inequality

On June 24, 2019, TASC Researcher Sean McCabe published an opinion piece in The Irish Times on the potential pitfalls within the Irish government's climate action plan in relation to addressing inequality.  McCabe states that climate justice has two distinct moral positions, "to ensure that those most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change are protected... while also ensuring that climate action itself doesn’t exacerbate existing inequalities and cause those living in precarious circumstances to suffer further."  This is especially a problem in a country that is already plagued by significant inequalities.  For McCabe, if the national climate action plans do not build community wealth then it is a missed opportunity to advance climate justice while addressing inequality.
