Transparency in practice

Paul Sweeney06/05/2009

Paul Sweeney: Openness and transparency is all the rage…. in theory. But on some places it is being practiced. Under the new administration in the US, Obama says he wants open government. To prove it, he has put up his own tax return for last year when he earned $2.6m. And the Vice President's too. Can you imaging Brian Cowen or Bertie Ahern putting up their tax returns for public scrutiny in Ireland? Or the late Charles J Haughey’s would make great reading too… even now!
